Date: March 27, 2017 Time: 6:00 PM Location: Brighten Academy ______________________________________________________________________________ The meeting was called to order by Keena Kister, PTO President at approximately 6:00. She gave opening remarks, welcomed everybody to the meeting, and thanked them for coming. January meeting minutes were approved. There was no official PTO meeting in February due to scheduling conflicts. Budget Update: Current balance is $20,740.33 *Small World Gift Shop/Mistletoe Market Profits (December) - $595.15 *Tumbler Profits - $2,775.14 (door to door sales) & $471.34 (online sales) for a total of $3,246.48 profit *Recent Spirit Nights - CFA at Arbor Place (January) - $123.74 Mojobas (February) - $53.00 *Variety Show Profits - $1,090.88 *Teacher Appreciation Costs - $1,443.59 (Budget - $1,500.00) *Fall Spirit Shirt Profits (as of 3/27/17) - -$1,231.39 (currently in the red) Upcoming Events: *March 29th - spirit night at Yogli Mogli from 1:00-4:00 *April 11th - spirit night at Firehouse Subs from 5:00-8:00 *April 21st - Movie Night from 7:30-10:00 (Volunteers will be needed.) *April 25th - Glow Party for Tumbler Fundraiser (for students who sold 7 tumblers or more) from 1:30-2:30 *April 24th - PTO Meeting at 6:00. At this meeting there will be a meet and greet for the upcoming Governing Board Candidates. *April 24th - May 1st - Governing Board Vote via Survey Monkey (March Meeting Minutes Continued) Community Partners *Box Tops - We currently have raised $939.70. Parents were encouraged to keep sending them in to the school. *Shoparoo App - We currently have raised $225.00 so far with 92 supporters. *Smile.Amazon - Amazon donates .5% of the price of your eligible Amazon Smile purchases back to the school. *Kroger - We raised $160.94 from 11/28-2/26. Parents were encouraged to register their Kroger savings card and add Brighten Academy as their school of choice under “Community Partners”. *Coke Rewards and Publix Partners have been discontinued. New Business *There are extra spirit shirts available for purchase. Both the long-sleeved t-shirts and sweatshirts are available for purchase. However, no sizes larger than X-large are left. *Planning for “Facility Upgrades” (what parents voted to fund earlier in the year)is still in the works. Nothing has been formally decided at this time. *PTO Board Vote will be held at the May 15th meeting. *Brighten Academy was approved for a $2,500.00 Grant from the Franklin Foundation. *Possible changes and updates coming to the items listed in the PTO Bi-Laws. Sheet with details was passed out in the meeting. *HB 430 - This is the House Bill that is going to the Senate regarding funding for charter schools. Parents were encouraged to attend the State of the School Meeting in the gym immediately following this PTO meeting for more information about this Bill. Reminders *Parents were reminded to log hours on “Track it Forward” website. Parents were told that report cards will be held if hours aren’t completed. *If parents send in 3 reams of copy paper, this is equal to 1 volunteer hour. *Parents were reminded to order a yearbook if they haven’t done so already. 3/17/2017 PTO Officer Called-MeetingPTO Board Meeting Minutes
(Called Meeting) Date: March 17, 2017 Time: 4:00 PM Location: Brighten Academy ______________________________________________________________________________ *This meeting of just the PTO Board was called to order by Keena Kister, PTO President. *Krista Polane, PTO Treasurer brought the current check register. *The initial discrepancy was a confusion with the initials “SS” in the current check register- secret santa items (from Mistletoe Market) vs spirit shirts, but this discrepancy has since been corrected. Mistletoe Market *PTO received an invoice for $1992.25 due to the company that provided the secret santa shop items. There is a questionable discrepancy with this invoice, and it was decided unanimously from the PTO board not to use this company for future events. *Actual profit from the entire Mistletoe Market event ($3,006.50)minus the total expenses from the event ($2,411.35 which includes the amount from the invoice mentioned above) leaves us with a profit of $595.15 for the entire Mistletoe Market event. Spirit Shirts *We are currently in the “red” for spirit shirts until they are all sold. *We decided to discount the current prices of the the navy and black spirit shirts in order to get them all sold. They will be discounted starting next month at a date TBD. (March 17 Minutes continued) *Future opportunities to sell shirts: in the afternoons at student dismissal, next PTO meeting which is also the State of School Meeting, and Movie Night on April 21st. *$1,036.36 is our potential profit when all shirts are sold. Other Business *We did receive the $2,500 Franklin Foundation Grant. *We are to get the check in May. Keena to confirm if this money needs to be spent by a certain time. |
